The Food

Queenstown is opening a new location in Del Mar

Queenstown is one of my favorite places. Both the Little Italy and UTC locations are great. A really neat brunch dish they offer is called the “Oink”. It features hoisin pulled pork, a poached egg, and jalapeño on cornbread - it’s a take off an Eggs Benedict.  The new spot will be located at 1435 Camino Del Mar, Suite D as reported here.

What’s your favorite Sushi place???

Eater San Diego has a new round up of Sushi places in San Diego. I noticed they are heavily concentrated in San Diego and on the coast. There must be some great Sushi places inland from Mira Mesa through Escondido to Vista. In the round up Himitsu in La Jolla caught my eye. Here is a link to their gallery page - yum! Saturday is National Margarita Day. Where’s your favorite Margarita spot?

Saturday the 22nd is National Margarita Day! Who knew? But we all know San Diego has great Margarita spots. Personally the Sauza Cadillac at Casa Guadalajara in Old Town is a classic. Sauza Hornitos, Sweet & Sour, Triple Sec, with a Grand Marnier float. Now we’re talking!

Oceanside International Film Festival

February 18th to February 22nd, Brooks Theatre 217 N Coast Hwy, Oceanside, CA 92054

Held every February the Oceanside International Film Festival is a venue for independent film makers. It’s juried event and this is the 14th annual edition. More info from the official site here.

Sycamore Canyon Trail Races

February 22nd, Sycamore Canyon / Goodan Ranch Park

“Sycamore Canyon Preserve consists of 2,272 acres of coastal sage scrub and chaparral-covered hills, including the 325-acre Goodan Ranch, a mix of grassland, riparian, coastal sage, oak woodland and mixed chaparral.”

These races include a 100K, a 50K, a Marathon, a Half Marathon and Relay versions. More info on the races here.

Sycamore Canyon is a great park on the eastern edge of Poway below Highway 67. More info on the park here.
